DTI Law
Under the 1973 Employment Act amended April 2004, it is now illegal for an agency to charge an upfront fee for introducing somebody to paid or unpaid employment.'
According to recent correspondence with the DTI, what determines a publication from an agency depends largely whether the service exists primarily or mainly for the purpose of supplying opportunities to work seekers
Springboard UKŪ is not an agency. Springboard UKŪ is an online newspaper (publication) Our publication consists of mainly news and features, letters, reviews, entertainment news, opinions, advertising and much more. Springboard UKŪ is a rapidly expanding online publication for the UK entertainment industry. The auditions and opportunities section is just a small part of what we do and accounts for less than 10% of our total publication
Springboard UKŪ is therefore considered to be a publication and not an agency and is therefore exempt from the 1973 employment Agencies Act reviewed in April 2004 in regards to the charging of up front fees.
Springboard UKŪ comply with all relevant UK and DTI laws.
